Our Mission

Firebrand is a circuit of artists who use their various mediums of art to incite change in at-risk communities by provoking thought, inspiration, and positive momentum, while simultaneously providing artists with support, promotion, and a platform to co-produce art with emerging artists.

We provide FAN members with professional development and technical assistance such as social media marketing, networking and performance opportunities, educational forums and workshops, and printed materials including calendars featuring our artists, newsletters, and other publications.

  • In the Winter of 2015, Firebrand launched a theater and spoken word workshop at Spencer Elementary dedicated to raising literacy rates.
  • Firebrand published its long awaited book entitled, "Quick Guide to Editing, Proofreading, and Revising Your Writing."
  • Published articles and blogs on subject matter ranging from networking and music, even catching the attention of Chicago's own Chance the Rapper!
  • Held annual open mics and cultural programs at the Maywood Public Library every summer from 2014-2016.
  • In September 2016, FAN rolled out its new series of programming, in partnership with the Quinn Center in Maywood, IL. Programming includes creative writing, sewing, vocal coaching, visual arts, and spoken arts/ hip-hop.
  • In October 2016, our hip-hop artists performed at Operation Uplift's West Town Museum.
